Default Okay, so...

...I went to "Midnight Maham" last night- which is where the Las Vegas Motor Speedway opens up the 1/4 mile track to the public to race on. I'd never raced before, but there were a ton of riders from our local clubs who showed up (25+ bikes). Nobody wanted to run, accept me?!?!?! So, I did. My best time ended being a 12.1 sec quarter mile. I raced with a dude on a 929, and I was only losing under a second each time. My bike has NO mods (accept for a slip-on).

Is my time about normal for a stock bike? How about that 929? I thought he should've killed me- was he just a bad driver...am I slow? How much faster in time will a pcIII, full exhaust system, etc get me????

For your first time yeah 11's to 12's is not bad. Once you get your launch down then you will see better times.

With somepractice you could see high 10's to low 11's with a stock bike.

The more you set your bike up for drag racing the faster you will see better times, but the launch is the key.

You just can't drive...J/k.

My buddy raced cars for a while, but on his 05 1kRR he was in the low 11s (not too low). It is all in the launch (60 foot times). He raced in Orlando (hot, sea level), not sure if Vegas is a better spot to race.

Hey thats pretty good for the first time. Another variable is the kind of tires you have also. The softer the rubber the better the traction take off. When you took off, did you rap up your rpms? When I run , I take off at like 8 or 9.

Say what, 8 or 9?!?! Dude, I think i was around 3-4... I have the stockBridgestone tires that came off my buddies bike. Not a soft compound, because I commute on my bike. I'd be going through a set of tires every 2-3 months (too rich for my blood).

My clutch is about to go out, so right now I can't do a wheelie anyways. I am putting in a new one this weekend. And I am running the Michelin Pilot Powers, best rubber in my opinion.

major bumpage to stephens for saying 8-9 launching. even if you have clutch slipage, you want to limit the time you sit in the higher rmp range. as for 8-9 lauch, it sound like a good wheelie launch. DONT LOOP THE BIKE
