I had to remove the right side fairing to get a filter wrench on it the first time I changed the oil after buying it used. No idea who put it on last, but it was on there crazy tight.

Download a manual from one of the stickeys. Read this...http://redirectingat.com/?id=42X146&...nsumables.html . I use Rotella T in the blue jug and the wal-mart filter. If you just bought this bike there's some more maint. that needs to be done. And do searches for your problems before you ask, most of the issues have been covered more than once. Oh and welcome to the 2 wheeled world.
Also, what other maintenance items need to be addressed? -Brake fluid -Chain adjustment -Air filter -trans fluid Any other basic maintenance items I missed? I know the guy drove the bike pretty hard, just don't know what I need to look out for. I do need a manual CCT as the buzzing is getting annoying already, but anything else? Thanks guys |
Check the front fork seals/bushings, as I had to replace those on mine not too long ago.

I noticed my right one was leaking, so I figured it was way overdue.
It wasn't hard at all, really, the most difficult part was hoisting the bike up in the air so there was no force on the front (and you could remove them). We ended up using our neighbors stairs and created a lift out of a jack handle and two chains wrapped around the frame (which were wrapped in towels) Worked beautifully. I have some pictures on my phone, I'll have to try to find a way to post 'em up on here. |

I can't believe my local shop charges 80 bucks to do an oil change on this bike. Seems VERY high.
What are you guys paying for oil changes these days? |

Has all the info for filter cross referencing. Check it out. At wallyworld you are buying a car filter that fits our bikes |
Where is the cheapest place to buy oil? Walmart? Or like an autoparts shop? (advanced etc.) And I take the right fairing off, easier that way. What do you guys use to catch your oil though? I don't put it on the stands, and can't find something good and low.
