Default oil?

How bad is it to put valvoline Max life sythic blend 10w-40 in a F4i, I know it says to use 4 cycle oil but max life is way cheaper.
I was wondering what you guys use and if anyone else has made such a cheapass decision.

it may not be horrible. but it's not made for it. its like running an untuned power commander...it'll work, but not to it's potential. i'd be worried about possible clutch slippage and the way it holds/removes friction material.

I am a cheap *** except when it comes to oil. Motorcycle oil lubes the engine, transmission, and the clutch with the same oil. You really need all those parts working. I run amsoil.

I agree, I too am a cheap ***. But I will not skimp on oil. It's what makes your engine run smooth. I get the big jug of oil from the dealer. Not sure how much it is. Pretty sure it's cheaper than $10 a quart though.

Oil is the one thing that will keep your bike running strong. Honda Pro Oil 10W-40 without moly and a K & N oil filter.

If you didn't run it long and got it out and got new oil in your bike you should be ok. If you feel your clutch slipping or your bike running really hot, those might be some symptoms. Hondas are built strong as hell, it takes alot to break em down.
