The manual (you know, the one you should download from this very site before working on your bike) says 3.3L/3.5 US qt. for an oil and filter change.

I did the oil change this afternoon and put the full gallon in it . Will this be bad for my bike or what should I do?

How do you go about taking just a little bit of oil out? Should I just let it out until it is half way past the little glass piece?

That's what I would do:

1. Put bike on a rear stand
2. Let it warm up for a couple of minutes
3. Shut the engine down and let it stay for a few minutes
4. Drain some oil - check the level
5. ... repeat number 4 until you get the level somewhere in the middle in the inspection window.

Good luck!

The easiest way is to syphon it out the fill hole, but you can also empty it through the drain plug (messy).

Personally, I like to fill it with oil so that's it's level with the top line. Oil level should be checked with the bike upright (not on the side stand), and always after the engine has been allowed to run a bit.

alot of the guys in a few diff forums have said they run a quart over (mostly stunters) and haven't had any problems that i've found. I wouldn't worry about a half a quart over.
