no start, timing?

The issue is that when it's plugged in all the way it somehow isn't connected so you have to pull the plug apart a bit and shake it around to get it to make the connection. It was a PITA figuring out what it was when I first encountered it, then fiddling w/ it so it would work, I don't even want to touch the plastics over there. Next time I'm in there I'll probably rewire if it gives me trouble again.

Well I can't really exactly answer what I did to have better shifting but I think because I did put in new sprocket and chain, and new spark plugs as I was probably running on 3 cylinders.
