Default Newby advice F4i riders HELP!!

Hi everyone,

I just bought this mint condition yellow/black2002 honda cbr f4i. It has 3,2xx miles on it and has a high mountmicron exhaust with bar ends. It has no frame sliders. Now comes the time of picking my new baby up and riding it home. It's at a persons garage where i bought it from and is about 20 minutes away from where i live. I did take aMSF course about 9 months ago and i rode someone elses f4i just down the street with no traffic. My question is should i attempt to ride it home or justhave the guy ride it home for me? I know how powerful the f4i is i did hit 65mph on one the other day just as a test drive. I will respect its power just undecided if i should ride it home for the first time.A friend of mine is going to follow me home just in case anything happens. So riders out there is the f4i a pretty easy bike should i have problems with it my first ride home? I really dont want to drop this beauty i have no FRAME SLIDERS to protect it what advice can anyone give me?

take it easy and keep your right hand under control and youll be fine. be good to your baby and she will be good to you. she can go MUCHHHHHHH further than you can at this point, just keep that in mind.

LOL - this was me 6 weeks ago - the only difference is I took my course 4 years ago and had not ridden since! I rode it home (about a 15 min. ride) and was scared ****less. I took it easy on the throttle and I was jerky as hell in 1st and second gear but I made it. Once I got to my neighborhood I rode the side streets for about 20 minutes to get use to it. Take your time and do not get the rpm's up past 5000 because the bike is fairly tame below those rpm's.
I have been slowly venturing further from home every time I ride (which has been a lot because of the nice weather) and practicing the skills I learned at the course. I am being careful and sill respect the power of the bike.
Take it easy and you should be fine.

No big deal . Just keep it geared down and pick it up at night. Take a clear visor, warm clothes and a pair of gloves. When you are new to it all, the trafic will freak you out far more then bike. Even if its dark, bikes are pretty visable at night if you move side to side to get other peoples attention when needed. It's much easier to see and get a distance and speed with the sideways movement.
After you get it home plan a trip away for cities and spend a weekend on it and your anxiety well go way down by time you get home.

You guys are sallies. My first road experience on a motorcycle was with my F4i, and I was out on a popular 40mph cruising highway with other bikers 10 minutes later. I probably put 200 miles on my first evening.

You won't get better until you practice. So take her for a ride, already!

idk man... this might sound whimpy but... I took the MSF course and passed fine, but then when I got my bike and was learning on my bike (not on real roads) I kept stalling and ended up dropping it [:@](luckily Jaynd bubble wrapped the bike for me and it didn't get scratched or anything lol)... yes I did say bubble wrapped the bike... so idk how competent you are of a rider, I was confident but couldn't get a hold of it for about two weeks, I never stalled in the MSF class, just on my bike... maybe have him ride it to your house just to be safe... keep in mind that I'm only 5 ft tall though so to me the F4i is REALLY BIG... idk just my .02

you put too much stock in a frame slider,

a frame slider is supposed to help your frame not get broken when you crash going insanly fast and smash your bike onto the ground. they slide on the motor mount and not break the frame.

they wont help you much if you drop your bike

and they are right, there's no way to get better without practice.

I say just have the dude deliver it if he is willing and then you can take your time on some back roads to get used to it.
