Default Newbie, have question on braking

Hi, i just bought my first bike, and 03 f4i and i've riden before, but not for a long time. i have a problem with braking, using the front brakes. Every time i use the front brakes i have a tendency to also put on the gas, so i spin out. i don't know if its the gloves, maybe i'm not use to it, or i'm griping it wrong. if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

switch the cables around so the brake is on the left and clutch on the right...lol. Kidding but seriously its probably just take some practice you will get the hang of it.

can't say i can relate, but my advice would be to pull your thumb under the throttle to make sure it's pressed fully closed while sqeezing the brake.

I had the same problem when learning at the MSF training. The instructor told me to keep my thumb straight down like making an "L" shape between your thumb and index finger as you close the throttle and reach for the brake. Haven't had the same problem since.

You might consider changing the position of the break lever. They're pretty easty to rotate around the handle bar so that your hand is in a little different position when you reach for the brake.
