New Yoshi TRS muffler, with a silencer?!?!
I finally broke down and bought a new exhaust, I went with the Yoshimura TRS stainless. I ordered it from 58cycle.com since they are in Va. and Im in MD shipping only took a day. however, i ordered the California model with the O2 bung for the sensor b/c I read somewhere that if you plan on getting the power commander and K&N air filter you really need to keep your O2 sensor hooked up. However, I noticed when i got it and it has been bugging me since, that it looks like theres a little "silencer" in the end of the tip of the muffler. I had an Apexi N1 exhaust for my car and it came with a removable silencer that looked like this onebut for a car muffler of course. I mean it sounds good, but nowhere near a loud as I thought it would be. ALSO, I looked on 58cycle.com's site at some other pix of this muffler and it doesnt seem that the "silencer" looking thing is in the other ones. Is it possible its only in the Cali. model?!?!
--------If anyone else has a yoshimura slip on either a TRS or RS3 California model or not could you let me know if yours has this same thing,or better yet snap a pic and post it for me so i can compare. I would greatly appreciate it!!
I am gonna take some pix of what im talking about on my mufflertomorrow morning and post them...
Thanks for the help.
EDIT:::: ok i found some pix prob better than i can ever take on ebay....
you see on inside the tip there is like a 2nd tip?!?!?
and its not small, its a cylinder that extends about 5-6 inches down into the canister...

I have a California Ti TRS but it is the race baffle. It does not have the internal or second baffle as in your first picture (Carbon pipe). Looks to me that the first picture (Carbon pipe) is the zyclone TRS which is basically two baffles.
I believe the idea for zyclone and the second baffle was to make it more restrictive and quieter for street use. The race baffle (Stainless picture) is basically just a straight through so it is less restrictive and a little louder. Hope that helps a little.

ok, thanx, b/c the one i ordered was the race baffle,,,, and the manual they gave me was the race baffle. now im a little mad..... oh well, i already put it on so theres nothing i can do. Im gonna see if i cant remove that interior baffle or not!!! hehehe. thanx again.
There should be a small set screw on botton of the muffler tip. Take that out and the silencer pulls right out. It might take a little pulling but it comes right out no problem. I bought a race baffled carbon trs and it had the silencer in it when I recieved it, pulled out the set screw and pulled out the silencer no big deal. Its still not that loud compared to alot of other exhausts but it does sound ten times better than stock.
yea i noticed the set screw but it has a small tack weld holding it in place i have to try to use the dremel to cut the weld without F'n up the muffler tip....... i'll let yall know how it goes, im doing the LED project right now, when im done in 20 min the muffler is next in line for today,,,,, then im going golfin'!!
if you dont mind me asking, where do you live in MD? i live in Calvert County. and you said its not as LOUD as you had thought it'd be? im looking into purchasing a slip-on myself but im short on cash......the cheapest one's i found were Jardine, D & D, Yoshimura, Muzzy, and Scorpion. not trying to thread jack..but do you feel the Yoshimura was worth the money for its power/sound?
ok, just got it out. just had to cut the little tack weld, unscrew it and it pulled right out, no problems!! sounds A HUNDRED TIMES BETTER!!! I love it now!!!! yes i would recommend it to anyone, i got it b/c i liked the design, wish i could have gotten the carbon fiber but didnt have the xtra $110 to spend!!
