Default New Paint

... well kind of. I just finished painting my 02 F4i flat black with a spray can. I'm sure plenty of you are like "why??" well all my old fairings except my tank were scratched and didnt want to pay for new ones or a really nice paintjob. So I bought some spray primer and paint and went to town. I sanded everything down with some 60 grit and just moved up till I was in the 400 grit and did a few coats of primer. Let it dry and sanded again with 400 then to 600 and did a few coats of the flat black and finished with a mild wetsand with 1000 grit. I love the flat black look plus if I scratch it or god forbid lay it down so what have a can left over and its fixed.

That looks sweet. I love how it's flat. Don't let people tell you that spraying it was wrong. I think so glossy red pin stripes in the bigger ares would look sick. Kinda like a hotrod. I'd have that done professionally though. Black windscreen, ftmfw.

I'm not fond of all black whether it is flat or shiny. I like to be visible to traffic and don't think black is the way to do it. On the other hand....sure is nice to fix a scratch by pulling out the ol' spray can!

I have the same color on my bike. I have the flat black and I love it , some people tell me it looks nice and some don't like it but it doesnt matter to me I still love it. When I dropped my bike it was so easy because all I had to do is sand it down and primer again so its so easy and you dont have to worry about paying for a paint job. One question though how much was your cage? is it hard to install?

Looks awesome! I love the flat black...would look sweet with some red wheel stripes IMO. But you did a great job w/ the paint. Be proud!
