The neutral sensor does wear down also...strong indication is it works when cold but not while hot. Pull the sensor see if its worn flat...there is a thread on it either i was reading.i have the same issue. It has never caused my bike not to start....i have started it in gear clutched..but it could show that one of your connectors is bad if the sensor is good.

Check your side stand switch....that could cause that

lol that's exactly my problem! starts perfect cold and runs no problem but when it gets hot it doesn't want to start. i replaced my MPA senor, AIT sensor, and side stand sensor with new ones thinking it was those but it wasn't. when i put my tachometer back on the bike before i went to stunt the other night i noticed the neutral light was flickering or wouldn't register at all when the bike was hot or idling in neutral and i knew its in neutral because the clutch is fully disengaged. so after i saw that i downloaded the service manual and it said that it does get worn down and would have problems starting if the sensor is faulty. i ordered a new one a few days ago so I'm hoping that's the problem and not something else cause its been giving me hell for months now!
