Hey everyone my name is Drew and I am extremly new to bikes in generall. I have been doing research and last sat i bought an 01 Cbr f4i. Love the bike but only have gotten one day to ride it since its still like 40 degrees in MI. But just wondering if theres anything I should do first on the bike and how much money I should spend on riding jacket, gloves, and Helmet since right now im borrowing my buddys helmet. Let me know anything that will help me. Heres a pic of the bike.

 

Looks good man. You will love this bike. As far as jacket and other gear goes its pretty much based on personal oponion and how much you want to spend. I have a scorpion helmet which I love and I just bout and Icon leather jacket and Icon gloves. I found a pretty good deal on them so I couldnt pass them up. Pretty much just look online and go to your nearest dealer and try on jackets and helmets and see what onees you like the best and then decide from there.

 

Congrats on the F4i...a lil hard to tell, but it looks like you could use a front tire...looks a bit worn.

 

looks good, spend as much as youre willing on gear. good gear will save you, good deals are also nice too. but dont go cheap on the gear, theres a difference between cheap and inexpensive(or a good price)

 

Ill will second that notion. If you have to save up some money for a bit and then spend it on some good gear a little extra money on gear might save you some skin(if you were to fall) rather than saving money and losing some skin.

i bought a helmet for 130 hjc cl-16. its great, comfortable, etc. i would say as long as the helmet is snell certified, get it.
gloves and jacket, im in the same boat, lol.
nice clean bike by the way.

 

Hey everyone, thanks for all the input. I ended up going to the bike store yesterday after work and bought a leather Teknic jacket orignally 330 at the store but they were selling all their teknic jackets 50% of, got a steal there, and then i bought some joe rocket gloves. Still using a friends helmet in the mean time.

Yeah im pretty sure Im going to get a new front tire this weekend, any suggestions?

 

made sure if you get a helmet its DOT and SNELL approved... DOT will approve pretty much anything you put on your head. Sounds like u got a killer deal on ur jacket... And I know joe rocket makes some good gloves....
