Default need your guys opinion

so ive been looking for a tail fairing for an 01-03. i have found 2 on ebay so heres where i need your help. I have one that is selling for 120 but its only a street replica and its not painted but then i found one that is painted (the color of my bike)and is a factory oem part is perfect shape and the guy is selling it for 200 but 50 for shipping so basically 250 for the part. ok so....$120 for replica part not painted? or $250 for oem part painted?

Well...hell. I bought an oem right fairing and the thing went on smooth, and the color matched, and it was EXPENSIVE!!! Now, I've neard there are fittment issues with some of these aftermarket plastics, also, you will either have to have it painted, or paint it yourself to match. If you go with the colorrite paint, that is expensive, too. Plug in a little frustration time, plus what you can get paint for and see if that is worth $130 to you. I can't paint, and the last guy that painted my front fairing mismatched it by about ten shades. Personally, I would buy the oem plastic.

yea man i was sorta thinking the same thing but i means its just the tail fairing i dont really see how it could have many fitting issues. on the other hand is the yellow from a 2002 f4i the same as the yellow from an 06? cause i would be pissed if i pay 250 for it and it doesnt even match. i also know several painters so paying 120 for the replica fairing and getting a inexpensice paint job from a friend of a friend. still need more input help a fellow F4ier out!!

i was told earlier that the 2004-2005 yellow is not the same as the 2006, so i doubt the 2002 is the same as the 2006 either.

The 2006 yellow is called "pearl shining yellow" and the 2002 is called "pearl flash yellow". I would think it is just enough difference not to match.

I have a 02 with the yellow paint and it tends to be brighter then the yellows of a the newer bikes.

well i guess that makes my decsion a little easier cause im not gonna pay 250 for an OEM part that isnt going to match. Think ill just buy the replica tail for 120 and get it painted

Be careful with the replica part though, not as high quality as OEM. When I got a fiberglass upper fairing there were plenty of surface imperfections. Whether you paint it or someone else make sure they/you do body work on it first if it needs it.

yea man im not too worried about that with the replica part i know some people that can hook it up but didnt wanna really have to go through that but if the yellows dont match id rather save some money and take the chance with the replica
