A good full exhaust will give you some torque, but it is intended to make more high rpm power. It is all in the displacement. 600cc bikes need to spin to high rpms to make power, but power up top translates to weak torque down low. There are several variables in which engineers use to make power including displacement, rpm, flow, and many other things. Anything you do to maximize torque down low will hurt power up high, its all in the math. Therefore, to produce a good bike you have to find a good middle ground tune that offers the best combination of horsepower and torque. Honda already did this when they developed the bike. The only bolt-on that will make a noticeable difference in torque would be gearing, but gearing has its disadvantages because, once again, honda geared the bike for the best combination of torque and velocity given the selected gear. 50 lb/ft of torque would be hard to get without engine work to increase flow (i.e. port work, bigger valves, etc.). The easiest way to increase torque is to increase displacement. For you that means buying a larger bike. If you are not happy with the stock 42 then you will soon get bored with the 5 or 6 lb/ft increase an expensive full exhaust/powercommander/intake filter would get you, if you even notice the difference in torque at all. 600's will always feel weak down low so just get a twin, 1000, or even a 750 gixxer or 636 kawi for more torque.

alright I'm going to the 14...I'll let you all konw if it makes that much of a difference

so really, the 600 is a true track bike that is street civil....for a street only kinda guy, we should have a litre bike or a twin?

I get it. Hopefully the 14 will satisfy me and I can keep my 600RR...

Thanks mazdajoe....that clarified so many things!!

My bike is re-geared - 3 up in the back, 1 down in the front. I bought it from the prior owner that way. It pulls fantastic! I'm sure the chain will wear out quicker . .but I can live with that - it's totally worth it.

You could advance the timing which will give you more bottom end, Dennis Kirk sells a kit that fits the F4i, not sure bout' an RR although it's the same motor.

yea dude but you'll be running the motor harder AND you gots to use premium mang!

for the street, a twin would be good. still no need for a liter because of the added power and twitchiness, leaves less room for error you know mang? like say you accidently wrap the throttle them LOOP...wheel spin, etc...

Check out this link for an idea of what type of torque increases you can get with different sprocket sizes:
