Need Help!!!!
I just bought a 2001 F4i w/ 4,500 miles. I need help finding this noise. Dont jump and say its the cct yet guys! The noise seems to be coming from the front right side, near the break lever and surrounding area. It sounds like just a light chater(vibration), and not coming from the engine itself. It only occurs at 5.5-6.5 1000rpm and only when it is in gear, not EVER in nutral. I have checked it seems every thing in that area and it all seems tight. I was told the cct would make noise in nutral and every other gear. If it was a body noise why would it only happen in that rpm? Any other ideas guys? Need help, its driving me crazy!
sorry to say, but that is the exact location of the CCTL. mines didn't rattle in neutral until after a long while. otherwise it's during load. acclerate to like 10K in first and then let off and you can feel it.
Its not a problem if its the cct, i would like to know just to fix it! Why wont it make the noise in nutral? And only in that rpm ? My bike only has 4,500 miles on it, this early. I swear it does not sound like its coming from the motor, the cct is near the seat, not the top of the tank..
Mine has the same noise, started about 500mi. ago. Sounds like a can of bb's in the tank at exactly 5000rpm. Gonna swap it out soon, although I've heard you can restake the end on the old one and the noise will quit. Apparently the end of the cct is pinned to the shaft and it gets loose.
on my 2001 when it went bad it made the annoying rattle only in gear from 3-5000 rpm. it sounded just fine in neutral. took me an hour or so to install a new one, its just a pain because it is hdden behind the frame.
