Default need battery and maintenance

hey guys
let me first say, im new to the forums. well i signed up last yr when i got my 02 f4i but this is my 1st post. now its riding season............but i need a battery since it dont hold the charge. FYI its the original battery with about 2700 miles on it. any recommendation on where and what battery to buy? i noticed they range from $40 to $100 on ebay.

Also, what kind of service should i perform? i know the manual has its own schedule maintenance but the bike has low miles and was not ridden at all from the previous owner. All i know the oil was changed one time and maybe twice but not sure.

Thanx

change the fluids, lube the chain, just do everything u normally would. i have a cheap battery in my bike and its been working fine. check to see if theres a battery shop in your town, they r usually cheap and then u dont have to wait for shipping

I just got a new battery for my 06 about 2 months ago. I got it from batterymart.com. I believe it was under 65 bucks for the maintainance free gel battery and that was with shipping. Battery came charged up too. Just had to throw it in and go.

There is a BatteriesPlus in our area, and I just grabbed one there.

Battery should still be good at 2700 miles. Is it dead after riding? Had it tested as bad?

Even if the bike only has 2700 miles, the battery is 8 years old. I would definately replace it before it dies while youre out somewhere and leaves you stranded. That is a long time to have a battery in a vehicle.

Check before replacing. Yeah, $50 may not be a lot. But it sucks to spend the cash, thinking you fixed what's wrong, and still have the problem.

Checking the battery will cost nothing and he'll prolly be right there to buy a new one if it is bad (autozone / pepboys / napa)

+1

Why spend money you don't have to?
