Looks good. But how do you work the helmet lock / open the seat?

And where'd you get it to match the 06 blue?

Helmet lock? how do you do that?

The seat cowl does not effect the seat lock mechanism. I personally have the fender eliminator but if you'rs is still stock, you'd just use the original key slot. as for the helmet lock, you have me confused. is there a way to lock your helmet on the bike?

As for the colour, I painted it using 5 products, adhesion promoter, primer, base(silver), colour(blue), than clear. I bought it from color rite.

Not quite a lock like you're suspecting. But when you unlock the seat, about midway along where it goes are metal hook / tabs. You hook your helmet's d-ring onto it, and the strap hangs out a cutout on the fairing. Put the seat back and the helmet is now locked to the bike.

Where'd you get the cowl? I have a FE too, tho the previous owner forgot the brand.

I voted conversion because all cowls and targas i've seen really look stupid!

Also with the banana seat if you ever carry a lady on the back she will love you long time lol
I'm keeping mine for that EXACT reason. I think if anything I'll get get a targa. Newer bikes have like "cowls" from the dealer you can get. So I'll just wait, and years down the road, be able to do a true single seat if I want.
