Question My ugly banana seat...convert or not?

Ok, Its been a little over a year now I have owned my 2004 F4i...I really enjoy riding this and yes the comfort is nice also. BUT I just cant get past this ugly banana seat...I know this has been an ongoing argument for years.

My question is...I really do not want to invest into a 600RR which I really want to do because I feel there is so much more fun riding I can get out of my F4i.

Do I add the small cowl setup I have seen that only covers the seat?
Do I add the HUGE Targa cowl setup for tons of money?
Do I do the seat conversion which is expensive itself?

I have looked at people doing the seat conversion but my question is, are the only parts I need...

New rear frame... 01-03
New tail section
New undertail
New rider seat
New passenger plastic cowl
Battery box?

Id much rather do the conversion if its only a couple hundred dollars but I am not sure of all the parts exactly needed and the cheapest way to find them....

Anyone have some parts they can sell?

Those seat cowls just are expensive and do not change the look that drasticly.

Thanks so much...

What if I do not plan to have it as a two seater? I obviously will not need pegs right? Haha...yes I want to do the conversion. If I can get the parts for a few hundred then im game. How much you want for the bat box?

Thanks

NICE, I cant get on ebay at work here but will hit them up when I get home....OK now im stoked. Have to come up with a color I will be very happy with. I have my hugger coming in the mail. I was thinking of going with a ducati knock off but change the white and red to something like a charcoal and red large stripe.

Nanner seats don't look that bad, if it REALLY bugs you i would do the conversion, it's not that hard or expensive. just time consuming to find parts.

I voted conversion because all cowls and targas i've seen really look stupid!

Also with the banana seat if you ever carry a lady on the back she will love you long time lol

No, you need new pegs the 01-03 are wider then the 04-06 ;( and the Right side peg holds your exhaust on!

I did the conversion on mine it cost me around 500 or so bucks but I bought all the pieces off ebay for cheap and it took a while.

Save yourself some time and keep your bike looking newer.

*plus if you ride with a girl ever they will thank you* I remember when i got it all finished my girlfriend got pissed that it was WAY more uncomfortable with the split seats.

just my 2 cents save yourself some time and money and just buy the cowl.

Ok I have a battery box lined up. I def want to do the conversion because I do not like riding with passengers anyway. I see the link you sent me for the sub frame was for the 01-02 and 05-06 i thought the 05 and 06 still had the banana seat? Thanks just want to make sure I find the correct parts.....

Hey I have a good idea haha, who wants to swap my 04 out with a soooo comfy setup for their 03 setup haha....

Thanks everyone!

Check my tutorial in my photo gallery. I show/tell what you need & don't need. The conversion is really easy to do.

Go for the conversion!

p.s. Feel free to contact me for help.

I voted for the cowl just cuz you don't have an option to just keep the banana seat. I have an 06' and only time i've heard of people converting is on here but honestly i love my banana seat for many reasons. Here's a clean picture for you to compare to:
