In my experience, KBB is accurate unless your bike has been crashed. Mods don't bring you anything more when selling. New tires, sprockets, etc will get the bike sold faster when you are ready to sell.
Some people say the 1000's are easier to ride on the street because of the low end power, but I personally enjoy revving the shnit out of my bike instead of holding back all the time. It's all about flickability and usable power in my book. But nobody can knock you for getting a 1000, just opinions here!

Post it for 100 < KBB Retail OBO. It tells buyers you know what your bike is worth, but are willing to work something out with the buyer. Your short term goal is to get high interest and get people to come check it out, after that, it's pretty straight forward. Good luck with your sale (if you decide to sell).
