Hey guys,

I'm having a very bad today... First, I got a leak and now my indicator does not work anymore. I was hooking up the new undertail that I got, and when I turned on the bike, I think I heard a click and now the LCD display and tachometer don't work anymore. However, I still see the time on my LCD display (No back light, no Neutral Green light, nothing...just black), and when I turn on my high beam, the blue LED lights up on my display. Did I blow up a fuse or something? What's going on?

Any help is much appreciated....

check your indicator fuse.

 

Where's that fuse? How do I know if it's the fuse or not?

 

fuse box is under the seat. if the fuse is blown, then that's your problem. i had the same problem awhile back.

step 1: take off your seat
step 2: check for your fuse box on the clutch side. it's right under your left butt cheek
step 3: start pulling these little guys:



so pretty. colors of the rainbow.

Step 4: Look for a blown fuse. they break at the top where the 'U' shape is

step 5: replace your blown, if any, fuse(s) with your spare
step 6: replace your spare fuses

 

Thanks for the help guys . . . I'll check it tomorrow. If it's not the fuse, what else could be the cause? Am I in big trouble if it's not the fuse? Also, where do I find the spare fuse?

 

spare fuses can be bought just about anywhere. I believe it's a 10amp fuse, red in color if i'm not mistaking. That 'click' you heard when you turned the key could have very well could have been a fuse popping. they're 85 cents a pop at your local autozone.

If the fuses check out ok, re-check your new wire job. Look for any fraying, burning, exposed wire along the way. Whenever you rewire something, it is critical that you insulate every step of the way. one short circuit and you could have a bad day...

 

My last question (I promise lol ) . If I connected the wrong wires to my undertail LEDs, is there a chance that I've blown the LEDs as well ordid the fuse protect them?

 

Excuse me forbutting-in. I'm just curious as to what/where was leaking?

 

A green liquid wasleaking from the top right corner of the radiator. I took the faitings off and checked the cap and the hose and everything. Everything was good. I turned on the bike and no more leaks. I didn't turn on the bike for the past month or so since it's really cold up here (Canada, Toronto). I moved the bike around a few times and while I was trying to put the fairing on, I got someone to hold the bike in a 45 angle to the side for me to put the fairing on. Someone told me that could be the cause of it. I'm still not sure why that happened !! Really confused . . .
