ok today i started hearing a knock in the engine at idle, it sounds like a to much run out in the crank but the strange thing is it will knock a few times and then stop, once it goes away it maybe a few minutes later it comes back but then goes away again. i don't notice it when i rev the motor. any ideas?

 

What's your idle speed?

Does this happen when cold or hot?

Did you check your engine oil level?

What grade gasoline are you using? What brand?

 

it only happen yesterday and it was after a ride.hot but normal.idle is about 1300 somewhat. if you have ever hear crankshaft end play thats what it sounded like, but it didn't do it today at all. so kind of weird.usually end play will not stop when it starts.it kind of a slow knock like it's the crank rpms.but even when it was knocking it would do it a few min and stop.

 

i will feel it and hear it as well the odd time to be honest and reading all these i have this sound from my f4i im pretty sure we hust have to bite the nail stop paying so much attention to the sound of the bike cause it changes all the time

 

i know what you mean but sounds are the main way to tell whats going on inside the motor.

 

dont mean to bring a thread back from the dead.....but does anyone know what can cause this noise? im starting to hear the same noise after a long ride. it doesnt matter if you pull the clutch in or not. if i rev the engine, i can hear the engine more than the knock noise (its actually more like 'tock tock tock tock tock tock tock'). seems like its the loudest at idle speed.

 

Hmmmm. How many miles do you have on it??? Makes me scared o own mine now. I wouldnt know anything bout mine yet. Just got it last nght and only put 16miles on her takin it home. looks like I wont be able to ride it till saturday due to the weather so its got me kinda bummed out. I can still raise my garage door and listen to her purr today after work hahaha!!!

 

i am shy of 24k miles...just had the 24k service done...valves adjusted, throttles synced, new plugs, coolant flush, etc.
