In a pinch a crushed can works. Personally, I just carry a 3x3 of 1/8" masonite (hardboard).

If you park in the same place all the time, get a piece of galvanized metal
and just glue/nail it down where you want the stand to be.

That's what I do at home in my garage (I have the concrete covered
in rubber exercise mat flooring).

Yeah, I bought a puck for summer here in So Cal, but still have not had to use it. In AZ I know it is a must. I also agree with the asphalt mixture quote. Fresh asphalt is soft regardless. But I think different companies use different mixtures. Some lots are soft, some are hard.
