K&N air filter installation issues
Ok, so I thought this would be easy, but so far it hasn't been. First, the little U at the bottom of the stock air filter is pushed to one side a little bit, vs the K&N has it right in the center. With it being right in the center it doesn't fit right.
2nd, am I supposed to put the K&N directly into the stock air filter spot, or am I supposed to be putting it inside of the plastic contraption that the stock air filter is in. It looks like I will destroy the screen and maybe something else if I go to put the K&N inside the plastic piece that fits into the cutout.
Not sure if any of this makes sense, but hopefully the pics will explain. It just doesn't look like it fits. I bought it brand new and it's the correct part number per the K&N website. HA-6001.

When I got mine, I thought it wasn't going to fit properly as well. But I think I had to flip it or reverse it, which didn't seem right at the time, but fit perfectly. Try some things, hopefully you got the right one though.
Geez, I'm going to have to give up my man card for a month for this one. I had it upside down. I just thought it would fit like the stock one looked, but apparently not. Anyway, I'm back up and running now. Thanks for the advice. Gained 4 mpg when I put my D&D pipe on last week. Hopefully I can pickup another 1-2 with the K&N. I wouldn't think it would, but then again, I never dreamed a pipe could make that kind of difference either. 42.5 before the pipe, 46.25 with the D&D, maybe 47-48 with the K&N?
Thanks guys!!!
Thanks guys!!!
Lol I did the same thing installing my K&N Filter... I had a wtf moment but then after about 15 minutes wondering why the hell it didnt fit I then had my facepalm moment... Flipped it over and viola!!
my k&n has writing on it that says "this side faces up" or something like that. does nobody else's have that on there? its molded in from the manufacturer on mine.
