Integrated taillight HELP PLz
Hi, I am new here and was wondering if anyone could help me with an integrated tail light problem. I have done a search, but it was of minimal help. But here is my situation:
I just bought this integrated light so I could remove the small flush turn signals the old owner had on it.

I am having problems wiring this up. I figured out how to wire the turn signals on it, but I am having problems with the brake and running lights. For the brake and running lights this aftermarket taillight has 3 wires: red, yellow, and black. The original light has2 connectors 1for each bulb, each connector has 3 coloredwires in them. Green, green/yellow, and black/brown. I am not sure which to hook up with which since the aftermarketlight has only 3 wires and the original has 2 different connectors with 3 wires each.
I have tried almost every combination on it seems to either, running lights is on and turn signals work, but brake doesnt work. Anyone know how i could get the brake light to work also?
Also what is the white connector that are close to the blue and orange turn signal connectors?
Thanks foranyhelp.

Not sure about the brand you bought, but the Clear Alternatives list the ground as black, green is the break and red is your running light.
It's hard to tell, but you can test for yourself. The black will be your common/ground. Just test it by touching the wires to a 12 volt battery. Ground the black then try the yellow and red to see which one is brighter. I'm guessing the red will be your break light. As for the wiring on your bike, use a multi meter is test light.
Make sense? Feel free to ask as many questions as needed.

I have tried like i think almost every combination possible. I am still unable to hit the brake lever and have both lights go red. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for something like this or similar? I am not sure what to do next. I am not sure what you mean by use a multimeter to check what is what, wont they just give me the same voltages for the ones that arent ground? I have been at it for a few hours now and am getting pretty frustrated. Any advice anyone?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Did you get this figured out??? Also what brand integrated did you buy?? I had some similar problems with the Clear Alternatives wiring diagram not matching up to the bike's wiring on my 06....I posted the hard wiring that I did in the tech forum ....
dude i have the same problem...i've been riding during the day with this problem and i think im just gona take it to the local shop to see what they can do.i bought the same exact integrated light so i'm thinking we just bought bad product.
I figured out the problem. The old owner had the front signals in the front wired incorrectly causing the signal indicator lights to always be on. This also caused the rear indicator lights to also always be on, so unless you fix that when you hook up the rear indicator lights your brake lights will not work. The front signal lights should only be connected to the solid blue and the green and for other side solid orange + green, ( previous owner had both the solid blue + blue/white together and also orange/white + orange together). So it was not the units that were defective. Hope that helps you fix your problem also.
progress! ok so i did what you told me to do and i no longer have the front signals always on..but now my rear break light is always on...i lost the manual that came with the lights. could you tell me the wiring set up, cbrizzle (or anyone else)?
Here is what hooked up to what from taillight to the bike connectors.
The black on the integrated tail light to the solid green on one of the connectors from the original tail light. The yellow to the brown/black, and the red to the green/yellow. Hook that up first then test to see if the brake works properly. Then the 2 extra wires on the taillight hook the yellow up to the blue wire on the blue connector. And the blue wire on the taillight to the orange wire on the orange connector. That should work if your front signal indicators are not solid on like mine were.
