well okay when the bike is under 200 degrees it runs great and you dont hear any thing. once it gets over one 210 it starts making a what sounds like valve chatter when it gets to 220 it gets pretty bad. when i was out riding it was running 220-230 even though i was doing 40mph and at about 4500 rpms. it sounds like valve chatter but that doesnt make sence i was thinking maybe predetination but im runing 89 octane in it. im also running moblie 1 mtx in it. i bought some water wetter for it today and im gona throw it in.

maybe i just bought some bad gas?? or is this in my head and im just not used to 4cylinder motorcyele engines.

 

or is it a leaky exhaust?

 

how many miles does it have on it? i was at the honda dealer yesterday inquiring about the 16000 mile maintenance. he said if i don't hear any rattling coming from the right side of the engine i was ok. my bike has 14000 miles on it. maybe you're due for some maintenance.

 

it has 11,700 on it. the exhaust leak seems pluasible except why am i only hearing it over when the bike is over 200 degrees? im sure i would hear that at any tempeture . its just wierd to me that the tempeture is whats cuasing the noise and normally i would think that its predetination due to the cyclenders being to hot. but when most people are running 87 and geting that hot when im running 89 i should be fine.

i was also thinking from the oil being so hot maybe it was thining out a little and that was cuasing the valve chatter but i highly doubt that.

when its below 200-205 it sounds great and runs smooth as could be with no unusual noise.

Are you able to find a place that has 93 octane? If you can, give that a try. Otherwise, maybe it is the spark plug's heat range. If you replaced the plugs with a lower heat range and they are getting too hot, they will act as "Glow Plugs". Or, the only other thing I can think of is that you have some bad gas and/or you have carbon build-up in your combustion chamber. Run some fuel additive/cleaner through your bike to try and break up the carbon deposits.

 

First off, I read in another thread where they were saying if your bike is at 230 degrees that you should think about pulling over,, but I live in Dallas, little smoggy,, My bike gets up to 225 degrees now and the fan already kicks on,, its not even summer time yet? So I kind of have the same question,, Also,, I was running 93 octane for a long time and then backed down to 89,, My bike has a little knock, but I was thinking it was just the fuel injectors,, My knocking hasn't got bad yet and it doesn't seem to get louder!

 

yah my fans arnt kicking in till 227-229 it gets to 231-233 then goes back down. is there any way to adjust when the fans kick on?

ill try uping the octain if that doesnt work ill chance the plugs.

im hopping the water wetter will help with the tempeture to.

 

as far as exhaust leak, it'll get louder and more noticeable as the bike warms up to temp.
up the octane and see if it goes away.

as far as the fan coming on...230 is fine, just worry about it not going down at all when the fan comes on.

you can wire a switch to complete the circuit to turn on the fine any time you want.

 

So its not the fan itself hitting something?

 

nah its not the fan hiting something cuase i can hear the fan running and im hearing it when the fan is on and off
