Default Ideas on Maintaince 101

Before the weather get's nice, I was planning on doing a little TLC on the bike since the bike had 2 previous owners before me and I don't know how well they took care of the bike. (Oh it's and 03 F4i w/ about 11.2k mi...I bought it with 8.2k)

I was thinking of replacing the chain with D.I.D 525 Conversion (I am the daily driver no racing) (It need's to be a little tightened so I just figure I will go ahead and replace it at the same time).

4 Spark plugs (NGK..unless there's a better) Would any Spark plug do or is there a specific type that would be most beneficial

Oil and Oil Filter

Air Filter (any suggestion or just go with OEM)

Eventually Pazzo Lever's

Do you think I would be leaving something out or did I catch everything?

Thank you

Shrek

At that mileage, provided you don't have any issues, I'd replace oil and filter, and CHECK the air filter. Plugs should be good. If you want, dump a 1/2 can of seafoam in the tank, fillwith gas, rideand then the other 1/2 then change oil & filter again. Stick with synthetic.

These bikes don't require much maintenance.

And save your money. Tighten the chain, replace when it stretches too much or sproket teeth get rounded and dug in.

yes brake fluid. Replace it. Since a braking system on a bike is so small its only good for 2yrs or 12k miles. I just replaced mine along with my coolant. Mine is an 02 with 10,300 mi

Yes, brake fluid and coolant. Actually you're supposed to do suspension fluid too, but who does that on stock components?

Yes, there's fluid in the shock. Most ppl leave the stock shock alone. The DIY'er can't do a shock because it's pressurized with Nitrogen. Changing the fork fluid should be annual. I had suspension work done last year, but I'm not changing the fluid until after this season.

+1 on that....also I believe most people can't do it themselves is that it would also require a specialized machine (I.E. like taking off the front struts on a car).

Though now I have to look in that fork fluid

I wouldn't touch your plugs if you bike is running fine. Mine is at 26K and still going strong. The iridium plugs last a while....
