Now onward to the project

Ive been looking at some threads showing an F4i with the projectors on them, and I just couldnt resist getting them. They just look so damn sexy! After seeing this guy F4i with the projectors, I HAD to get them.

OH LAWD


So I looked up some different fourms and found write ups people made. I was thinking of doing one, but theres are much better and give better details, so heres the link. And also a video I followed for those who prefer a visual standpoint. Though WARNING, hes working on a Kawasaki ZX6r headlight, but you pretty much do the samething. So heres the links.

So heres mines

Took everything off the headlight and had it just bare..



Placed in the oven

Just like the video and fourms said, I left it in the for 7mins. It took me two tries to finally pry the headlights apart.

Taking out the reflectors to paint them

Now this is the kicker, the people I brought my projections from ran out of black shrouds. They called me and asked what I wanted to do. Then the brilliant man came up with a pretty damn good idea. He said since Im already painting the reflectors, I can sand down the shrouds for you and also primer them for me.


So here they are

Then waited a good hour and a half to let everything cure before I put em back in.

In picture, the black looks really light, but in person its a different story. Oh well

Looks nice man. I've been looking to do the retrofit on mine, but still gotta pull the trigger. I have an extra headlight, just incase I eff it up.

 

Yeah its not hard at all brother, the only thing thats scary is the baking process, after that its smooth as kittens. I also didnt want those halos and devil eyes and all that other crap, so I dunno how it would go with those. I just wanted simple projectors lol and it gives my bike that MEAN look when you see it in person

 

The one thing that I'm a little confused about is how you actually mounted the projectors inside the old reflectors... did you glue them or what??

 

About 5minutes not the video it shows them being installed into the housing/reflector.

 

They give you this big a** rubber washer, and also a lock nut to tighten the projector down, its really simple hombre

 

Thanks for the write up, I've found my next project.

 

Its worth it brother, because 2 things

1: It has a cutoff line so it wont blind oncoming traffic like regular HID's do

2: It looks f***ing badarse!

 

Thanks, I hadn't looked at the video as I was just reading on my lunch break at work lol. I watched it when I got home and it all made sense

 

I cant wait to see how yours will come out, i personally like the dark evil look I did to mines. I WAS thinking white halos but I would have to park the bike and stare at it to even remember its there.






I need to replace that front cowl lol, i got it really cheap
