Default How to remove the triple tree?

I need to take off and apart my triple tree to see if anything is wrong, and if I need a new one.

I've taken off the cap (duh) and then the silver nut on top. However, now I have no idea what comes off, pulls apart, or unscrews.

On a side note, my upper and lower trees can spin freely from each other, but don't budge up or down.

Please help as I can't get a service manual from the dealer until Tuesday!

ugh fineeeeeeeee lol

here is how it goes...

remove clip ons...

remove cap and nut

remove top tripple...

okay now pay attention...

there is a set of lock nuts... there is a little metal thing with tabs between them making sure that they dont spin...

put the tabs out and use a scew driver to tap the top nut loose

from here remove that little metal thing

now use a screw driver and a hammer again and remove the bottom lock bolt....

from here u should be good to go and after removing ur forks the bottom triple should fall right out... watch and make sure u dont loose any bearings

Hey kilgoretrout I just picked up a 04 600rr myself, any chance you could help a brother out with a manual for one of those?

Thanks Zach. I just wasn't sure what to do with those lock nuts and that tabbed piece.

Sure, man....

HERE it is. It's for the '03/'04, but labeled '03.

I think the only one I don't have available is the one for the new 1krr. I mean, I have it...just not uploaded. The thing is huge.

Hello. Would you happen to have the manual for a 2017 cbr500r?
