Wow did I get ripped off, I'm 18 in OC, California, with a clean driving record, and I also pay $280 for 6 months, so $560 a year for ONLY minimum liability and uninsured motorist. How do you guys get full coverage on the bike and pay the same (or less!) than me?! I'm with State Farm...Is it because of my age or am I just doing something wrong?

Markobenin, at the age of 18 you are considerated a liability to your insurance. Proven statical numbers have shown more accidents at younger ages. Resulting in higher rates. Once you hit the age of 25 with most companys your rates drop. No accidents and NO tickets is huge. With mulitple cars, the insurance company sees you driving those and not your bike as much, resulting in lower insurance. Mulitple policys, ie. house insurance, renters insurance and the auto insurance, they reward you with a discount for doing business with them. That is how the lower rates are achieved.

Try to get discounts with them like insuring a car with them. What helped me most is if you insure yourself under your family's insurance policy.

Thanks for the advice guys, at this point though it looks like these are the lowest rates I'm gonna get. There is not a single car in my family (only me and my dad and we both have bikes!) and no other insurance, hence no discounts. Guess I'll be passing on the full coverage for now and avoid paying the $2500+ a year that it would cost me now.

Your credit score also plays a part in your insurance prices. I may 190$ a year for liability on my 1995. I am 22 with a couple speeding tickets but they should be gone by now (after 2 years they dissapear from your record).

Looking into a newer bike soon and liability is still cheap but full coverage is crazy high.

its kinda new to me but i can not imagine how the credit history will effect my insurance price. as far as i recall an estimated statistic that is set by an actuary firm and its based on the history of a district/county. then the insurance comp combines that statistic with your and family’s driving record. bla bla bla, you get your price of "x" amount.
so AR15, will i pay more or less if i have a poor credit score? how does this policy work?

i have heard credit scores can effect your inusrance to depending on the company. maybe it has something to do with showing your resposiblity? like if your dont pay your bills your obviously not resposible. weather its true or not i have no idea.

im 22 live in NY and im paying 600 a year for liablity and comp through progressive. i get a discount for the msf course becuase in ny it is considered a deffensive driving course.
