My 2005 did 157 GPS, about 172 indicated (it was a long time ago, i dont remember clearly). All stock power and gearing. It might have another MPH or two in it with a full leather suit and full tuck position, but i had a camera mount on my tank (holding the GPS) and couldn't get all the way down.

Perhaps you should learn to tuck in over 80mph or so. I'm 6'-7" and once I learned to tuck in I don't notice the air pull near as much...unless I sit up to sort of use my body as an air brake

Alright, so you probably fit fine as far as tucking. Just tuck down, and bring your elbows in, and you'll be fine.
I've read that if you pick your butt out of the seat a bit, and make your back flat, that there will be better weight distribution and aerodynamics. No idea if it's true, but at least you aren't bouncing off the tank when you hit a bump.

I do that. I lift my butt off. It feels like it helps with air distribution and for some reason feels like a smoother ride when going fast vs when my butt is down.
