Default how bout a mentally-challenged question?

first bike i've ever owned with these kind of chain slack adjusters. when you guys adjust your chains do you snug up the adjuster bolts after your finished tightning down the axle? if so, do you snug em forward(clockwise) or backward(counterclockwise)? also, if you do, how tight do you snug em. thanks all

counter clockwise tightens chain, clockwise loosens it...should be doing counter, same number of turns on each side...you don't tighten the axle nut until after...and when you do, you have to make sure to push in on the tire or pull out...so both sides are equal.

After the chain is adjusted and the axel retightened, you don't have to worry about the adjusting bolts. They can turn a little either way, but won't come out of adjustment once the axel is tightened.

Easy diy adjustments just make sure the tire is "STRAIGHT" and proper slack, yer cool, its not brain surgery its just a chain.....

Hi,
I am in the same dilemma. Dealer charges $21 + tax to adjust the chain. If I am not mistaken the chain adjustment should be on every 1 to 2 month schedule? I read somewhere that the axel nut needs to be handle using torque wrench 82 ft. My question is do you use stand or the side stand while adjusting the chain.

Best regards,

maakif

i'll charge you 10 bucks to do it if you don't want to do it yourself!
in all honesty, very easy to do...you just have to get through the idea that the dealer knows what they are doing...cause they don't! muahhaha

It's 69 ft lbs on the axle.
I always did mine on a rear stand. Wheel in the air is easiest.
