I posted this within the honda CBR F4 board as well, but thought i would check to see if anyone had information within the F4i board as well.

About 6 months ago i purchased a Honda F4i from my friend. According to the VIN sticker it appears the bikeis a2000 year model. When I went to the shop yesterday to pick up a couple new parts they looked at my like i was stupid by saying i have a 2000 CBR f4i. They said that the f4i wasn't created in 2000 and they started production in 2001. Baffled by the comment I went back and did more research and found out that my bike actually has the fuel injector that makes it and f4i. Does anyone have any explination to how I have a 2000 model f4i?

 

Is it an f4 with a f4i engine? either way 01 is when the f4i came out.

 

According to what my friends say, i have an fuel injector. and the body is an F4i. Other than that i don't really know how to check. Is there a way to check the engine to see if it is an F4i engine on a F4?

 

Do you have a choke lever?
Do you have a single square headlight or a headlight with two sides for hi/lo beam?
Late 2000 is probably just the production date and it was sold early 2001.

 

It doesn't have a choke lever. and it has two sided for the headlight. One for lo and one for hi.

The thing that is weird is on the VIN sticker it has 12/99 and then inbold FONT 2000. So it seems like it was built in99. Not sure tho.

models came out in 2001, production was some time before. just like my 2002 with 2002 colors, etc...bold stamped 2002, was made in 2001.
