I went with 55w on my low beam and 35w on the high. In retrospect though, the 35w kit is PLENTY bright already, so just stick with that unless you must have the absolute brightest lights around.

Default HID Kits Wattage To Use 35w or 55w

Hey Fellow Riders,

I just to know, what is the best wattage to use for my bike. I see that a lot of sites have both wattage, 35w and 55w. I know that the 55w is a bit longer than the 35w. Is anyone using the 55w instead of the 35w? If so, do you run into the problem of it melting the casing of the lights. I want to order mine soon, so please let me know asap.

Try and get into the habit of searching man. I just posted a question like this 2 threads below entitled "Goodies"

Anyway, regarding your question...the heat output isn't significantly higher and the F4i's headlight casing is very roomy to begin with. That leaves light output. From what I've read the 55w lights are a lot brighter than the 35w. Most people are saying that they are in fact too bright and that the 35 watt ones are more than enough. Some people run 55w for low beam and 35 for high...etc.

The only other thing to worry about is legality from glare/etc.

Putting all of that aside, I just ordered two 55w 6000k H7 kits (well..its one kit, but comes with two bulbs/ballasts/etc.) for my F4i =).

I looked all around the forum before I asked the question. None the less, thanks. I guess I will just go with the 55w, so that I can be seen. If I do get pulled over or something. I will just do the 35w low and 55w high. Once again thanks for all the info.

I have merged all the recent HID threads because the search button isn't being utilized.

It's all here still, just in one thread. So please read and post in this one before making another.
