Default Help with trunk lock

so i bought an undertail a while ago and ive been having problems with the trunk lock and the cable for the trunk. Is there a right way to do it? As of not i have the bracket that holds the trunk cable screwed into the middle compartment of the trunk and the lock itself is on the lower left of the trunk. I will post up pictures later. But the problem is is that if you turn the key to the left or turn it to the right with medium pressure the the cable will pop off the lock and then i cant open my trunk unless i pull off my seat and stick my hand inside my trunk and manually pull the cable then redo the trunk lock and if i turn it the wrong way again then same thing happens. any tips or pointers?

what i did was zip tied the cable to the frame of the tail so that the cable had tension on it at all times so that when you turn the key, the cable doesnt move and the lock unlocks. I think i have like 3 zipties in there to keep the cable in place. does that make any sense? hopefully it does.
