Help with new sprockets and chain.
AFAM sprockets mo bettah alloy sprocket, DID is a fine chain, but a guy who cares for a chain religiously, frequent cleaning, adjusting, and lube can double chain life regardless of brand.
15/48 520 did chain on f4i trackbike.

Very important decision, of course!
IS there much difference between steel and alloy sprockets?
If i'm going to be changing the sprockets with each new chain I can't see there being much value in getting a sprocket that will last forever..
gold looks good on everything...the 80s are back...
true, but you wouldn't want a faster wearing sprocket to wear out the chain faster right?
both are pretty tough. i have afam aluminum rear on 520...as far as wear...it's all fine still...
why did i do 520? i thought i was going to go track only but dude...last 2 years = drastic life change...
had i known i'd stick with stock 525.

Damn, not sure if a gold chain would look good on my red and silver paint scheme

Dammit, now I'm on the fence. 520/525. Ihave 525 now and need a new chain FAST. I'm trying to ride tomorrow. Stealership's number is busy. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Can someone confirm that stock 525 is 110 links?
Since this is my first chain change I can probably do it myself...all I'd need is chain rivet tool, right? How do you cut the length?
I have a NIB 520 Vortex rear. Perhaps I can save a few dollars by just going 520 and getting a new front sproket.

Tomorrow is the day I make my purchase. When I get it installed, I will take some pictures and post here.
Thanks for all the suggestions and help.
Although, what should I get if I am looking to get a little more torque?

I found this link fairly informative on steel vs. aluminum sprockets, and also on the 520 conversion
Figure i'd post it

I'm leaning towards the 525 chain now. Not sure how noticable the performance drop would be going from the 520 which is on now.
I do like the idea of the chain lasting much longer.. Call me cheap!
