Default Help identifying a Noise!!

Video at the bottom

Hello people. Well I have a strange noise coming from what sounds like the left side of the engine. At first I was chalking it up to my shot CCT, after I replaced it though and it cleared up other things, said noise is still there.

It sounds like debris bouncing around in the engine, like a piece of metal or something, but I doubt that. It doesn't happen in any specific scenario, sometimes it's there, sometimes not, other times steady or it'll come and go. I also thought maybe it was some hardware i dropped around the engine caught somewhere just bouncing around. The bike runs great no hiccups, besides occasionally being a little bouncy at idle.

It's really got me stumped. Any help would be great. Thanks

It may just be your chain. Try tightening it?

But yes, sound clips FTW

If you purchased an APE CCTL you might still need to make some adjustments. I hear just replacing the CCTL will not always completely fix the problem. Just in case you missed that part in the CCTL thread.

I'll adjust the chain, it makes the noise at idle as well, so that led me away from something chain related, I think there a bit more slack then there should be.

O and I don't have the adjustable CCT, I went OEM.

I don't know if this will help, but you could try using a short length of garden hose as a makeshift stethoscope to isolate the area of origin. Hold one end to your ear and move the other end around different areas until you isolate the noise. Hope this works. I know I hate hearing something I know doesn't belong.

ok so here's what I got, I think it picks up said noise pretty well. I tightened the chain up a bit as well so that wasn't it. I had a good poke around as well.

I'm leaning more towards it being a little washer or something stupid, sitting in a little pocket somewhere in the rear of the engine. I say that also because of how it does what it does. In the video it's pretty steady. When the bike's in motion it tends to stop then start then be steady. I also think that if that noise was in the engine, it wouldn't run as well. If the bike ran like doo-doo then I'd be worried.

Unless it is something serious and it's getting worse.. haha I'm lost.. LMK
