headlights SMoking
I just bought a 2002 honda cbr f4i with 3530miles now it has 5xxx miles on it. Headlights smoke ifigure oil is dripping onto the headers i look through the oil window i have NO OIL i put 20-30W car oil because i had to. Should i still get my bike checked out or is it fine now??
I've noticed this SAME EXACT thing ever since i bought my bike and possibly after the first oil change. This was about a year ago, and it still happens. It doesn't seem to be affecting my bike but it gets me worried, i usually disregard it since the tempertures seem normal.
1) make sure bike is perfectly vertical when checking oil. if it's on the kickstand, you won't see oil.
2) change oil asap. car oil = no good.
with that being said:
oil on exhaust headers = smoke and funny smell
rain on exhaust headers = steam and funny smell
if you're 100% sure it's your headlights that are smoking, i'd check for burned wires in your headlight harness by taking off the front fairing...

even then, i'm amazed a fuse hasn't blown or that the light(s) haven't burnt out...

actually, disregard all that poop i just posted. the solution is simple:
your oil filter is loose, causing oil to drip on your headers, causing you to be out of oil, causing your headlights to smoke, causing this post.
tighten it.
