the lowbeam headlight (clutch side) on my bike wasnt working when i bought it and i figured it was just a burnt out bulb. when i went to go replace it today, it still wouldnt turn on with the key. only the highbeam side turns on and no matter what position the headlight switch is set to, the highbeam side is always on, the lowbeam side wont turn on and the little blue indicator is never lit. would anyone know what could be the problem here? thanks.

 

Sounds like two things:

1) Your high beam bulb is connected to the low beam part of the wiring harness.
2) Your high beam switch is broken somehow.

It's really hard to say exactly where the problems in that is, but part of the headlight harness may be plugged in wrong, or broken somewhere. You should take the upper out and investigate the harness. Do a quick search for the F4i repair manual and you can get the wiring diagram for it.
