Default hazard in the road!

on my way to work today i was riding in the carpool lane on the freeway and didn't notice before i was on it that a freakin' pallet was in pieces on the road. no doubt one of those tiny pickup trucks with pallets stacked ten high...

anyways, i hit a piece of it and just rode it out since i was going so fast. kind of gave the handlebars a jolt. i didn't feel anything wrong with the bike so i just kept on going... but it did smell like burnt wood (and no, not from the griffith park fire). is there any way that could damage the bike and didn't realize it? could i bend my forks or rim?

how fast were you going? you can go and look at you're rim and see if its bent. and pallets come in different thicknesses. but i wouldnt think it would hurt the bike any.
