Default hard to get out of neutral, normal??

Ok, i tried searching for this, but had no luck....i have a 04 f4i and it has never been dropped, so this is why this is weird. Every once in a while, while in neutral...i will go to shift into 1st, and it will not shift in. I kicked down harder and harder and nothing...i went through the gears and back down to first and it still did the same thing, then finally went in. is there anyone else who has had a problem going into first?

I have an 01 that gets stuck in N from time to time. I just roll it a little back or forth and it goes right in.

it happens to all bikes rarely, just roll the bike an inch or two foward and it should click right into gear.

Happens to me ocassionally also.
I just simply let the clutch back out and then pull it in again, then try it again, always works.

Rev'n up a little always works for me. Car or bike, rev up a few thousand RPMs and it'll pop right in. Also, don't keep hitting it harder and harder to get it in gear. Find one of these tricks to get it in that's less painful for your tranny.

Happens once during a ride, usually after startup. I'v only noticed this condition on Hondas. I just let out clutch and then it snaps smartly into gear. No problems during ride. If you're having problems during your ride, something may be out of adjustment (possibly the rider's foot )

I have the occasional problem too, just roll it forward or backward a little ways like everyone else said, cause you can jump up and down on it all you want it, aint gonna in to first otherwise

It isnt just Honda's, my old zuk Katana used to do it, and my wife's Kawa 250 does it on occassion. We use the rev it up method while still holding the clutch until it goes into gear.
