Grips on the Tank?? good idea??
Hi i have seen alot of bikes with that strip of grip on the centre of the tank is this really a good idea? i dont wear a belt buckle so is there any reason i should put one on? Do they leave a mark on the tank if you take them off or can it be cleaned?
I don't know if they leave a mark when you take them off, but you will probably never take it off if you put one on your tank. It is still a good idea to get one even if you don't wear a belt because jacket zippers and jean/pants buttons ect... will rub on the tank and scratch it. In my opinion every bike should have one!
yea mang...and flip it upside down so that you get more coverage where you need it...and heat it up some more with a blowdryer before sticking it on...and don't get clear...

I wish one was put on my bike awhile ago. There isn't any scrathing or anything but the clear coat is wearing really good. You can notice the lack of shine where my jacket and stuff rub on it.
i say no on the clear because they eventually turn yellow (either from touching the rider's crotch or the sun) and dirt seems to fall into little openinings where the adhesive isn't doing it's job, sticking to it, making it black in the end.
belt buckle? it can be anything, your zipper from pants or jacket. all i know is this if you go over 100+mph you will tuck into the tank and you chest will be pressed against it. if i did not have that grip pad my jacket would have scrapped the crap out of my tank.
im thinking about getting one also but the way i see it, it will be harder to wax my tank. lol. but if your **** and dont like to see scratches, i say get one. most likely to get it if you tuck.. ill out one on when i decide to sell my bike to hide small scratches..
