Default GPS Mount

I bought a GPS and am looking at a mount from ram-mount.com. I am looking to mount it to the top of the tree. Question is the the triple tree stem hollow. That is how this one would mount. Need to confirm.

Believe so, just a plastic plug that slides in the top to cover it. Comes right out.

Here are a couple of pix of the RAM mount. It consists of a conical plug that fits down into the stem and expands via a screw in the center of the mount.

It doesn't hold all that well, to be honest. The mount won't come out, but it will turn and change position when you don't want it to.

To solve this problem, run a threaded rod all the way to the bottom of the stem--it's hollow the entire way down--and secure it with a large fender washer and a self-locking nut. At the top, you'll need a little threaded rod coupling to join the screw to the rod. Hardware stores have them.

For a heavyish GPS, you'll want the added security.

I work at Best Buy on occasion (long story). But I did a job for a friend where we put his gps to the windscreen, with the suction cup mount, however, we epoxied it there, so it won't be going anywhere, then hardwired a charge cord to the accessory, beautiful job. I'll try and get pics.

for what it is worth... I mounted my ram mount onto the 2 bolts that hold the front of the gas tank... those don't move anywhere!

Bought the mount off of ebay, it goes all the way through to bottom of the stem.
