Im the guy with the hinge scheme. I epoxied a 2" cabinet hinge to the plate (roughed w/sandpaper),
then screwed itthe black plastic undertail area. To keep it in the down position Ive got velcro on the
plate and undertail area. Works well. I like it slightly better than Stephens cause the platesits up a little
higher. Ive got other stuff on the plate like LED lights as well.

Could I trouble you for some more pics?

The hole in the plate is for the storage lock hole.
Question-
What are the "legallities" of cutting out the light that illuminates the license plate? Is it still visible at night and has anyone been pulled over for this?

the brake light lights up the plate enough to see and if a cop is following his lights will light it up more than enough for sure

No way, you all copied me!!! LOL. I used a cordless 18V Dewalt angle grinder. And a bench grinder to round off the edges. The tail light puts out enough light to illuminate the plate. Never been pulled over, only once a cop stopped when I was posing and said he liked my plate. The tail lights I have are stock, I just got clear lense covers and an amber bulb. I hate looking so stock.

WE had a traffic officer at our local poker game tonight and cutting the hole is not illegal. I have my tag mounted the exact same way so tomarrow I am cutting a hole !
