because I just washed my bike
I stopped washing my bike. If I washed it everytime it was dirty I'd never get to ride it. Chain wax doesn't seem to fling off if the chain was clean before application and it gets a chance to set up for a while. Then again, since my bike is so filthy, I wouldn't notice the goop anyway.

There's brands of lube that have a setting time after which they wont fling. I found one at my local dealership, and think it works at least a little better than the usualy stuff.

It does set better on a warm chain so I always apply after a nice ride before I put her away for the day.
Ive always used Chain Wax and it def works GREAT.

+1 on Bel Ray. I think the key is to lube AFTER the ride. It does look dirty though, so I clean with a little WD-40 and wipe immediately before applying the Bel Ray.

Exactly what I do, WD-40 on a rag wipe chain down and spin wheel, get inside, outside, and sides. Then do another wipe to get excess WD-40. Then I apply the good Bel Ray, and spin a bit, wipe excess on sides off, and excess wherever, and it's good to go.

motul doesn't fling unless you put wayyy too much on. ride for a while, apply, wipe off excess, let it set up and penetrate seals, ride again, wash/wax the bike.
