General Questions. CBR 600f6
Hi Guys,
New to the forum and hoping some of you can inform me on a few things. I just bought a 600f6 ('07 model). I was just wondering, what is the difference between the f4i and the f6? Are they essentially the same bike but just made in different years?
While transporting the bike in a van I had to lay it down on its left side. This caused fuel to leak out a lot from the fuel overflow hose. Now that it's upright the fuel isn't leaking anymore (fuel light is on so I think I may have leaked a lot!). Is there anything I should do now to ensure it's safe etc?
Also, when I turn electrics on (without turning the engine on), I have a red light next to the 'neutral' light, and the oil symbol is flashing. These both turn off when I turn on the engine. Is this normal?
Thanks guys

Hello and welcome to the forum. Congrats on your new purchase. Regarding your bike, I would venture to say that if your bike is an 07 and a honda 600 its a honda 600rr.. I don't know that they actually declare that an f6 or not? Anyhow, the fuel leaking out is normal if you laid it on its side, and it would leak down to half a tank or so. Just make sure you don't have fuel dripping where it will land on your rear tire and you should be fine. The lights are fine (it flashes because there is no oil pressure while the engine is off and is supposed to).
In general the 07 is a completely different bike than the f4i. It has 8 injectors rather than 4, with 4 of them in the airbox, and the parts aren't interchangable. Suspension or otherwise.
Some parts are interchangable on previous years regarding earlier rr and f4i 2001 - 2006 era engines and such, as those bikes shared engines and wore different clothing.

Hi there,
Thanks for your reply, but it isn't an RR, it's an F. It was made in 2007 but is the same as the 06 model. My only query was whether then, the '06 model was essentially the same as the f4i, but thanks for your reply.
In terms of securing it, what are the best security measures to have? I have an Oxford HD chain and padlock, thinking of getting a ground anchor. Are alarms / disc locks with alarm / gps tracking systems any good?
Thanks again everyone

if it looks like an f4i its probably an f4i however here in the states you will not find one that has 2007 printed on the sticker on the frame.
gps in my opinion is best considering you catch the people that took it, but dont use it with an alarm or it will give someone a reason to look through your bike to disable it.
you also need to make sure it will have gps coverage inside a van or box truck, and will require a monthly or annual fee for monitoring. just don't go cheap with a free gps that can't even get signal sitting in your driveway.

Hi and welcome to the forum! You should take the time to roll on over to the welcome forum and introduce yourself! Its a great way for everyone to get to know you and a fun and easy way to get to know us!
To answer your questions:
The F4i is the US designation and the F is the Euro designation (afaik).
If the bike was on its side I would recommend pulling the spark plugs to make sure the cylinders are not flooded. As long as you are willing to get your hands dirty it's a pretty easy process.
I dont have a Fuel Injected bike but if I'm not mistaken the red light is your FI Code light and its working properly.
The oil light is for oil pressure, with the bike off there is no oil pressure, as long as it turns off when the bike is running then you're good.
I don't use an alarm but I have heard great things about the scorpio line of bike alarms. I have thought long and hard about putting one in but I decided to wait and just be mindful of where I park until then.
Hope it helps and welcome to the forum, its cozy!
