gear indicator
I have seen the gear indicator device on a few bikes and I must say that I am now officially interested in one. Does anyone know if there is one made that is plug-n-play? If not, are they easy to install? I found a couple on ebay but they only had them listed for the CBRrr. Help and advice please.

RE: gear indicator
You can buy them off ebay and most sport bike shops list them. Around $85 plus shipping. They list you have to have a digital speedo so I assume it's all plug and play.
Here's a link to one site the has it and has a link for the instructions to install it.

RE: gear indicator
I'm cuious how a gear indicator would be helpful? I feel like if anything it would be distracting - Granted I haven't been riding that long, but I can tell if I need to go up a gear or drop a gear for more power - I don't care if I'm going from 4th to 3rd, I just care that I'm going from less to more power or whatever the case may be. I'm not bashing, I'm legitimately curious why knowing the number of the gear matters?

RE: gear indicator
I could see how it could be useful. If you are riding around town in either 2nd or 3rd gear and you are going faster than normal with higher rpms, and knowing if you have one or two gears left to downshift to slow yourself down would be nice to know. Or if you are using it to know what gear you are in when upshifting, how many gears do you have left. My bike, I revamped to sprockets so I red line much faster, knowing my gears is very important, I am going to look more into this.
