Fuel prime, no spark, no injection
Greetings!
I'm trying to troubleshoot this bike for my g/f. It ran a few times, and then the battery died over the course of a winter sitting outside. The starter died shortly after the battery and was replaced also. Still no start. Last year she/they did a fuel pump and regulator and it still wouldn't run. GF said they were able to feed fuel to it manually out of a bucket and it ran? I wasn't there for that part. I don't know how they rigged it up to run, but she said it ran when you bypassed the fuel tank/pump/etc. Again, I wasn't there.
This is my starting point:
We have fuel pump prime. No spark. No fuel injection. No kinked lines/plugs/etc. New pump, new regulator. Battery is fully charged and in good shape.
I have 12v at the ignition coils and injectors. Spark plugs are BRAND NEW and dry when I pulled them out. It's my understanding, that if any of the safety switches have any issues, the pump will not prime with the key on. I checked safety switches anyways regardless of the pump still priming and they all within spec.
There is no spark, and nothing coming from the fuel injectors. I cracked the end of the fuel rail to see if it had any pressure, and fuel sprayed everywhere.
I have the factory manual, and have been slowly churning through the troubleshooting steps. The ignition pulser and cam position pulser are going to be tested this evening. I don't have the magic tester the book calls for for high reading or whatever. What do you test for with a regular digital multimeter? I assume it's ac voltage for those signals? Any other things I can check?
This seems to be leading me towards an ECM failure. I've been researching this problem quite heavily and have seen the similar stories everywhere.
Are they repairable? Are there new ones available? I don't really trust ebay.
Thanks for any help, it's really appreciated.
