Default Frame Slider Question

I just purchased a set of the T-Rex cut frame sliders. When I got them, they were both identical meaning the same size. I have read some of the how to install posts, and some talk about one of the sliders being shorter than the other. Does it matter if they are the same size?

They should be the same size. Never heard of one side being shorter than the other.

The sliders should be the same size. What you are referring to is the fact that Vortex Sliders stick out more on one one side of the bike than the other. This is because the fairing is closer to the frame on that side. I'm not sure about T-Rex.

Oh ok its the bolts that should be different sizes? What is the size difference? I think the ones I got arethe same size so if anyone knows the size of the two bolts, please let me know. I will go to home depot, match the thread and just get a shorter one.

I knew I remembered seeing something about one being shorter, now I know its the bolt. Thanks. By the way which side does the short bolt go on?

One bolt is 70mm and one is 80mm on the Vortex also the bases of the frame sliders are different sizes. At the moment I can't remember which side had the shorter bolt or smaller base. I just installed my vortex ones yesterday. I used the playdoo method and it worked fine.

I don't think using a bolt that's to long will be a big deal though, as long as it fits tight, and slider is solid. If I remember right though, the longer one is on the left side.

The playdo method is when you put playdo on the inside of the plastic, put the bolts in the frame, put your plastic on, then take it off. The bolt makes an imprint in the playdo that you can use to drill your pilot hole. I used a similar method, but I just used the foam on the back of the plastic as my play do. I put the bolt on, and then put the plastic on. When I took it off there was an indent on the foam and I drilled there.
