Default Found a two inch steel rod in my tire

Not sure how long it was in but I noticed a two inch steel rod (nail like) embedded in my tire.
It went in about an inch on a very sharp angle to the tire so it may not have penetrated the entire way in. I pulled it out today and ran some water over the tire and didn't see any bubbles so I THINK it's ok. It must have been close though

What I am wondering is.. Is it ok to assume my tire will be fine seeing as it isn't leaking?

No. Your tire will be under pressures and g forces while cornering and that one weak spot could spell disaster for you when you least expect it. Don't chance it.

Put a hole through a bungee cord, would you jump after that?

I guess there is no way to really tell if the tire is sound or not. It's a new(ish) tire so it sucks to have to get a new one.

On the plus side, I guess I can burn it off

post a pic up for us to take a look, and stop by a trustworty dealer and ask one of their techs (not service writers) their opinion.

Agreed. Shouldn't even be a question of which to choose.

I can barely see where it went in so I don't think it would show up on camera very well. I was at a motorcycle shop when I noticed it and showed it to one of their tech guys. He said I could pull it out and check for leaks and if it didn't leak it would probably be fine. Like, no puncture no problem, kinda thing.

I'm in Canada so that's good and bad. Tire costs more for me but no hospital bills! I know what you are saying though
