Default Fluid on shoes after riding?

Hey guys,

I noticed the past couple of times I took my 02 F4i out, I ended up with what seems to be some oil on my left shoe. Its not a whole lot. I checked my shifter and there doesn't seem to be any oil on it, so I'm wondering where it came from and whether it is a major cause for concern?

Thanks guys.

Any "oil" concerns are major in my book. You have obviously checked the bike over and cant see anything amiss ( no signs of a leak on any of your casings and etc and your keeping any eye on levels in there ) You say your gear lever is clean so where is the oil on your shoe....it would suggest the back or side of it. Howz your chain looking for lube ? ( bootees only mate...honest, just imagine it,makes me grimace)

So I think I've discovered the problem. The previous owner laid the bike down and the stator cap is all scratched up, and I never really looked at it too much till today. Im guessing he used some type of weld on the cap to seal any leaks (Thats that the hardened sludge stuff is), and now the weld is starting to leak oil. Maybe because the cold weather.

I was wondering if I can just go get more jb weld or whatever other compound and reapply it? I wiped the whole cap down today and rode and there wasn't much fluid on the cap when I was done. I will eventually get a new cover when I get some cash but for now I was just wondering if some weld will hold me over for a few months?

Thanks guys.

A new cover really isn't that expensive.....
Make sure you keep an eye on your oil level.

Yeah I was looking at some on eBay and found a couple, I wonder if there will be any fitment problems because they aren't OEM.

LE02 Black Stator Engine Cover for CBR600RR F4 F4i | eBay

Honda CBR600 F4i 2001 2006 2002 2003 2004 2005 Stator Cover Crankcase Case | eBay

And I am assuming I would need the gasket as well.

Rick's Motorsports Stator Cover Gasket Honda CBR600F4I 2001 2006 | eBay

Does anyone know of a place to get one thats pretty cheap and not from China/Hong Kong?

Thanks guys.

If you look hard enough there are always people here in the US that order from china and stock them here so you can get them faster, look on bikebandit.com and you might be able to buy OEM.
