True that, but I think that when I put my sliders on I will use my playdough method instead. Just because I dont want to not be able to move the bike a little or so.

I'm following all the threads on frame sliders as I have a 03 F4i that I'm going to be doing this on...

So now that you know I've never actually done this mod myself...

It may be just one of those things that you notice but that others would not unless you brought their attention to it.

I do see what you mean though, and I understand why it bugs you, as my mind works the same way.

I don't demand absolute perfection but there is a certain tolerance that if exceeded really bothers me.... Maybe therapy would be a good idea... just joking. Or course for me, maybe I do need it!

I don't know if the following suggestion would be worth the time and effort but I thought I'd throw it out there just for something to consider:

Step 1: Enlarge the hole until it is a uniform distance from the frame slider around the entire circumference. The hole would still be circular but would now be slightly larger and, more importantly, centered on the slider.

Step 2: Apply some sort of edge trim as has been suggested. This will fill the gap and bring the dimensions of the hole down to where it is closer to the dimensions of the slider.

I think the main challenge will be how to accurately enlarge the hole. I would suggest drawing the new profile with a marker of some kind and then going to work, gently, with a Dremel. There is probably a better way but that was my first thought.

The final hole may not need to be a perfect circle as the edge trim will help camoflauge any errors.

Now before you go charging off on this: I've never tried anything like this so "caveat emptor" as they say!

But in any case good luck to you.

here you go...let me know if you have any further questions. My sliders are vortex btw. Also, no need for glue, they fit snug!

That actually looks really good. You would never tell that it was messed up. Thanks for the post, it really cleans up the install.

what tool did you use to cut your fairing? and is that a grommet you used, where do you get it? Was there holes for the slider after you took off your fairing?

I used a 2 3/4" hole saw bit. And I put electrical tape on the painted side that way I wouldnt splinter the paint while I was drilling through. It worked perfectly. 2 3/4" is just a little bit bigger then the framesliders. They came out perfect. I will post pictures as soon as I get time with the camera, My bike is parked at a friends house because I dont have a garage so pics take a little time.
